Broadcasting Australia to the world
Australia arguably has musical traditions dating back 15,000 years.
While we can’t claim to be across every number 1 in that time, we do have a passion for Aussie music and want to share that with:
Australians – Aussie music punches above its weight and stands equal on the world stage. Its high time that Aussies were convinced of that simple fact. The cultural cringe should be shot, cremated, and buried!
Everyone else – Once we have Australians sold its time to join forces and convince the world to look to us for great music new and old!
That’s everyone, so we mean you.
Now, we aren’t saying that the radio networks aren’t doing their best to showcase some Australian music. This show isn’t out to bash them or to promote one type of music over another (we do have our favourites though). But we do believe that there is far more focus and context that can be put on promoting and playing Aussie music.
It’s not just about showcasing the music either, it’s about convincing you to stream it or buy it in an ethical way that ensures the proceeds return to the artist – they don’t work for free after all. Its about getting you out to a local show – live music is king! Live music will be front and center right along with the recorded stuff.
We also know that there are artists out there, not just listeners. We want to contribute to this industry. We want to find and fill the gaps between making it and breaking it. Our aim is to be a trusted and reliable platform for Australian artists and provide an audience for their work.
That said, this show doesn’t happen in a bubble, we want to hear from you. This is your alternative Australia, tell us what you think of Aussie music. Tell us what you think of the show; of what you want to hear; and how you want to engage with Aussie music.
Until the next episode,
Simon & Steve
